Description:
The Rural Electrification Strategy and Plan Covering the Period 2001 to 2010 incorporates the use of solar and wind energy. Already over 10,000 solar units had been installed in homes by the year 2001. Government commissioned the Uganda Alternative Energy Resource Assessment and Utilisation Study. This will assist Government to formulate a flexible least cost Alternative Energy Resources Development Programme (AERDP) that can be swiftly adapted to changing conditions including adaptation to climate change. The AERDP covers a 15-year period (2005 - 2020).
